The Client
Brighton & Hove Labour is the local branch of the UK Labour Party, comprising the Labour Group on Brighton & Hove City Council and three Constituency Labour Parties (CLPs). The Party plays a key role in local governance and campaigning, working across the city to promote Labour values and elect representatives at both local and national levels.
The Challenge
Brighton & Hove Labour’s existing website was outdated and lacked the functionality to showcase the Party’s achievements or engage supporters effectively. It only represented the Labour Group on the City Council, offering no space for the city’s three CLPs or their branches to represent themselves. The challenge was to create a single platform that reflected both the work of Labour councillors and the broader party infrastructure across the city.
The Solution
When Brighton & Hove Labour commissioned Sea Brand, the goal was to create more than just a new website—it was to build a central digital campaign hub. We overhauled the site’s design, structure, and functionality, creating a powerful yet easy-to-manage platform using WordPress and Oxygen Builder. The new site allows local CLPs, councillors, and campaign staff to quickly publish updates, highlight campaign work, and keep voters informed—without relying on external developers.
The site’s General Election Hub features candidates from across the city, links to their individual pages, official portraits, event listings, news updates, and more—giving supporters one place to stay engaged and informed.
But our work didn’t stop at the website. Sea Brand also led the design direction for the entire 2023 local election campaign. We developed the full visual identity and produced a wide range of campaign materials, including:
- A pre-launch interactive manifesto microsite
- Leaflets printed over 50,000 times
- Election posters
- Social media assets
- Branded templates for councillors and candidates
Together, these assets created a bold, consistent look across Brighton & Hove Labour’s online and offline presence—supporting one of their most dynamic and cohesive campaigns in recent years.
